Good Times Tours was created in November 2015 and over the last 4 years I’ve created a very niche small tour business that focuses on hiking, cycling and wine adventures throughout Victoria. I run approx. 10-15 overnight trips a year and these are a mix of public and private tours and approx. 20 wine tours a year so it’s very much a part time operation which is how I like it. My core adventures to start were a 2 day Wilson’s Promontory Tour, 2 day Grampians Tour and a 2/3 day Great Ocean Walk adventure. With the seasonality of taking groups hiking and campaign mainly restricted to late September through to mid April, I expanded into wine tours out to the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula.

Given the low volume of tours I run, I haven’t received many reviews on TripAdvisor, however I feel very fortunate for the kind words that customers have left about my tours and my character over the years.

SEO Efforts

This screenshot shows a Google Search Console report highlighting organic clicks/impressions over the past 16 months (prior to covid-19). The site has seen a considerable growth in both click/impression volume and this is due to content development, on-site optimisation, Google My Business optimisation and natural link acquisition.

A proactive approach to website optimisation

SEMrush is an awesome tool that I use to proactively optimise my website and ensure any issues are dealt with sooner rather than later. I’m a big fan of SEMrush and utilise it as much as possible for website maintenance, content and link building ideas.

Google My Business Optimisation

To optimise my Google My Business account, I focus on obtaining reviews, uploading photos with descriptions and ensuring my product offering is up to date. These three initiatives have really helped to drive my online visibility for local searches within Google.
